Brandi Carlile arrives in Düsseldorf in 2026 with new album

Stylistically forcing American singer, producer and songwriter Brandi Carlile into a genre drawer is a desperate undertaking. Since her self-titled debut album from 2005, she has changed between folk, Americana, rock, artpop and even classic rock. While her perhaps best-known song “The Story” vocally tilts from country folk into a grunge chorus, she showed herself more and more versatile over the years, tried out various styles and sang duets with acts such as Noah Kahan, Miley Cyrus, Lucius or Dolly Parton. With Elton John she even recorded an entire duet album.

With this knowledge, it can be read as a statement when Brandi Carlile calls her first solo album in four years “Returning To Myself”. It will already be released on October 24 – and the title song of the same name, a guitar ballad, sounds like reflection, retreat and self-discovery. The second pre-single “A War With Time” is also a melancholy affair, which nevertheless has a very intense drive thanks to the sophisticated production and the unusual drum rhythm. Carlile also co-produced this time, but got a few very much appreciated and established names on board: Andrew Watt (who worked with the Rolling Stones on their comeback album “Hackney Diamonds”), Aaron Dessner (member of The National) and Justin Vernon, who is probably most known and appreciated as Bon Iver.

Brandi Carlile will also present the new album in Europe next year. In Germany, an exclusive show is on the tour schedule: On October 26, she will play in Düsseldorf in the Mitsubishi Electric Hall.
