Speaking on today’s single release, vocalist Trevor Borg shares:
“This song is a bit different than the others on the album in the sense that I didn’t necessarily write the lyrics from personal experience. I’ve always wanted to challenge myself and write a song about a story I loved, and if the name isn’t a dead give away, I wrote this song about my favorite novel “The Shining”. The overlook is about the character Jack and his struggles to be a better version of himself and provide for his family. All while facing consequences of past mistakes as well as battling his vices, and literal possession from spirits in a haunted hotel.”
Lifting the curtain behind the record, Trevor continues:
“Lyrically, What if I Break is a very introspective album. I wrote about very real experiences in my life these past few years. This album touches on love and death, connections with others as well as connections with myself. And the pressures that I felt trying to maintain those connections while chasing a dream I’ve had since childhood. These songs are on the verge of being uncomfortably honest, and I couldn’t imagine doing it any other way.“
