Yeah yeah, I know, fucking cliche. But this is my first review of 2024, and it’s of living legends the Wooten Brothers. So, you know what? I’m gonna be fucking cliche and talk about new years resolutions.
Even if they’re bad resolutions like mine, which is: to learn more, which is neither measurable nor timeable nor fitting of anything S.M.A.R.T, if you can remember back to grade school.
But when you watch living legends, learning is what you do.
Because the Wooten Brothers are legends. Grammy winning, talented, masterful legends. It’s jaw dropping watching people who literally can’t make a mistake play. Wrong note? More like new key. Wrong rhythm? More like new time signature. Watching them jam on stage is nothing short of “holy fucking shit”.
And it’s not all about skill. I was having a shitty day. I woke up to a barrage of those types of texts. I was dizzy and decided to bring Tylenol and masks back to the fray. The project I had spent the previous week working on imploded and my neighbours blocked my car in.
But it all disappeared as I entered the realm of Cervantes. I felt good vibes walking in the 15 degree cold. I felt good vibes emanating from a stage of brothers who are proud of each other. And I felt good vibes driving home. And thank fuck for that too, because I really wanted to hit my neighbour’s car upon arriving home. But I refrained.
We were all basking in good vibes. Except maybe the guy bleeding from his head outside. He might be tbd.
