Questing Beast shares “We started working on the Birth album back in late 2019 and knew that this project was going to need a lot of time and patience to get right. We’re incredibly proud to finally get the finished product of our labors out into the world to share with everyone, and incredibly excited to see what the future holds.”
An amalgam of fate, time, and space, the Birth of the Questing Beast marks a new epoch in an ancient legend.
Over the course of 3 years, Shane, Jane, Christian, and Joe carefully constructed a complex fantasy universe and signature sound that brought it to life – grounded in heavy metal, but not confined to any one genre. Each member’s personal influences shine through, incorporating elements of rock, jazz, funk, opera, and more.
Once the album had been written, Questing Beast recruited Chase Bryant (from L.A. thrash band Warbringer) to fill out bass duties.
Chase Bryant shares “I am deeply honored, humbled, challenged, and excited to be part of such an epic and ambitious record with such incredibly talented and beautiful like minded souls. A grandiose well-crafted adventure from beginning to end. Enjoy!”
Birth is the first album in a trilogy of planned releases comprising one continuous story. It tells an epic tale of a planet’s end, a scornful god, and an interdimensional scheme. Each song is from the perspective of a different original character, reflected in dynamic songwriting and lyrical themes. Produced and mixed by Benny Grotto (Sasquatch, Death Ray Vision, Blood for Blood) at Mad Oak Studios, and mastered by Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Archspire, The Zenith Passage, Khemmis), Questing Beast was able to achieve their original goal: a well-rounded album with a classic yet modern sound.
