If you’re anything like me, you don’t read much news media because it’s dumb as fuck. It’s questions that don’t need to be asked, verbs that don’t make sense in context, obvious spins, and no unique thoughts because Twitter screenshots are literally the entire article.
Let’s try something like that for Red Devil Vortex, Otep, and Doyle!
RED DEVIL VORTEX LETS LOOSE ON DENVER CROWD?
Red Devil Vortex made their first ever visit to Denver – citation needed – in their opening for Doyle and Otep. They commanded the stage and audience with a blend of rock and roll and rock music. Their theatrics were well received and they did in fact let loose on the Denver crowd according to a poll conducted outside the show*. They let Denver know they exist, as they promised to be back**.
We would share with you X screenshots but unfortunately Elon Musk, whom we deeply respect, blocked our account for saying “Nazis are bad” and now we can’t get back onto X.
*We asked one homeless man when he asked for money. We of course didn’t give him any because he had two good bootstraps on him.
**They asked “who would show up if we came back?” The entire, 100% audience raised their hands and vowed to return if Red Devil Vortex did too.
LESBIAN SINGER DID WHAT TO DENVER?
Otep, musical project of lesbian political and animal activist Otep Shamaya, took Denver by storm Wednesday night with their blend of lesbian and left wing metal music, of course none of which being actually relevant to anything except clickbait. Fans aggressively cheered as she took a pig head, a metaphor for fascism – something not denied (or confirmed) – and placed it on a pike on stage. While I wanted to enjoy Otep’s raw and extremely powerful performance my bosses wouldn’t allow me because of her pro worker stance.
Even though Otep was one of the best things I’ve ever seen attack the stages of Denver, my boss says I have to say she’s horrible and definitely do NOT see or support her or any of her work! You aren’t exploited, you are beloved and loved by corporate.
DID DOYLE SLAM HIS GUITAR?
Yes.
And that’s why I fucking hate modern news media. Anyways, the DGAF attitude of Doyle was something to behold, almost dangerous at times. Climbing on things, climbing off things, too many Love songs, not enough love songs, and the fact they gave the reigns to an 18 year old drummer, who killed it by the way, made me concerned for everyone’s safety multiple times during the show.
Maybe the headline should have read:
18 YEAR OLD MURDERS DOYLE!
DOYLE LEAD SINGER WOLFMAN NEARLY KILLS HIMSELF ON STAGE!
DOYLE LIES TO AUDIENCE!
Maybe Otep’s headline should have focused less on social and political stances and focused on the fact that somehow their music is better live than on their records, and it’s really fucking amazing on their records. Or maybe Red Devil Vortex’s ability to lead the crowd to water AND make them drink, if you get the metaphor.
