There’s something about British rock that’s… British. And it’s not the accents. Simple quartets that exist to provide a backdrop to sing song vocals that sound at home on the radio. Suits and ties and basic drum kits yet it’s something you can dance to in a club.

You know, British. Which The Ritualists aren’t. But they sound like they are. I get nostalgic despite having no musical memories of their home – New York.
Their album, Too Pure To Cure, itself isn’t aggressive, as expected. It’s very easy listening, as expected. It’s slow, as expected. It feels at home in Colorado because you can have a good trip to it.
But if I’m being real, I have no strong opinions about this record simply because it’s not my style. Every song is so Britishy Rock, but I’m not a Beatles connoisseur. But in listening to it, I can’t help but think, much like Ok Go, they’re much better live than on record. I’m not a huge fan of Ok Go’s music, but damn are they something you should see live.
If someone played Too Pure To Cure on a road trip, I wouldn’t care – I would be indifferent. If someone invited me to see them live, I would make a conscious effort to go. And that’s based solely on the record I’m writing about here.
